Cellulitis is a bacteria-caused skin infection generally affecting only one limb, but may even lead to sepsis and gangrene, if not timely cured. When the bacterium spreads on the skin, the area becomes red, swollen and painful, the blisters that are visible on the skin feel warm when touched. More often than not, cellulitis is found in people with weak immunity, like those who are suffering from HIV positive AIDS or diabetes. People who have injuries, ring worms, eczema or blisters should not avoid them, because these are welcoming openings for bacteria to enter, which may result in cellulitis. Taking oral or topical anti-biotics can be an effective way to treat cellulitis.
Cellulitis is generally reddening swelling tenderness of the skin accompanied with pain in the particular area of infection. This infection spreads in the skin rapidly in the skin resulting in high fever, chills and swelling of lymph nodes in the region of infection. Cellulitis also causes mental health distortion which is the resultant of high fever and even lack of sleep. However, celulitis can attack on any part of the body but most pone body parts to cellulites infection are legs, hands, arms, or face.
Celulitis is not too severe in adults as compared to children. And it spreads too rapidly in children’s bodies causing acute redness and pain. Cellulitis symptoms in small children can be spotted by the reddening and swelling of the skin in arms, legs, hands, face or the anus region. Swelling and reddening of the skin spreads widely without having any fixed borders.
In infants cellulites can be more dangerous since their immune system is not fully developed and cannot fight back the fever and pain caused due to the infection. Cellulites symptom in adults can be figured out by the unusual reddening and swelling of the skin around the area of some injury or surgical site including a cut, burn, animal or insect bite. The areas that are affected most in adults are face and ears. A first sign of the infection is the pain and tenderness of the skin.
